Hamilton Electrical Services Project Overview
Theproperty was supplied with power via unsightly overhead cables. A new build was set to go in, and the construction company wanted a fresh start. This would involve removing the visual clutter of the overhead lines and installing underground electrical connections at the front of the property.
Voltora had to facilitate an overhead to underground supply changeover that introduced top-tier functionality and safety, while also improving the aesthetic appeal of the Brisbane property. What our Brisbane Electricians Did
This Hamilton electrical project required some careful planning, and as with all jobs there was the occasional challenge that presented itself. Our team loves taking those on!
The stages of this job panned out like this:
- Coordination with Energex: First, we had to align the Energex conduits from the property pole to the Energex pit location. This would be one of the main building blocks of the underground electricity system.
- Civil Works: Civil works were required for our team to install cable and conduits from the pits to the new mains switchboard.
- Electrical Installations: The next step involved handling meter wiring and reconfiguring the existing electrical setup to accommodate a sub-board. This would optimise performance and safety for the new property residents.

Challenges We Faced
Technically, this was a pretty straightforward project and our on-site work was wrapped up in five days. However, because Energex has scheduling constraints with this kind of job, we had to be engaged on the project for a whole year before being able to sign off on it.
That’s the nature of the beast though – everything else was smooth sailing except for one small hiccup. The existing main switchboard was in a non-compliant location! This wasn’t picked up in the quoting process because the works were done on the neighbouring property which had restricted access.
We worked around this by raising a variation and installing a new MCB in a compliant location. Everything was up to code at the end of the job!
