Project Overview
Voltora was commissioned to transform a heritage-listed character home in Ascot, seamlessly blending its historical charm with modern functionality. The client sought a sophisticated yet sympathetic electrical upgrade to support contemporary living while maintaining the home’s traditional aesthetic.

Electrical Infrastructure Works

Main Electrical Upgrades

• Main Switchboard Installation: Installed a robust three-phase Q20 main switchboard, ensuring the electrical backbone could handle modern loads.
• Auto Transfer Switch: Integrated a 45A three-phase automatic transfer switch for seamless generator activation during power outages.
• Sub Boards: Supplied and installed three sub boards to optimise power distribution across the property, catering to both new and existing circuits.

Circuitry for Specialised Equipment

To future-proof the home and support its modern amenities, we installed dedicated circuits, including:

• 32A Three-Phase Circuits: Supporting essential systems such as sump pumps, EV chargers, and air conditioning.
• 20A Circuit for Lift: Ensuring reliable operation of the newly installed lift.
• 16A and 25A Circuits: Allocated for high-demand appliances like an upright cooker, multifunction ovens, and cooling equipment (cool room, fridge).

Challenges & Solutions

• Maintaining Character: We carefully selected fixtures and fittings that matched the home’s character. The LED strip lighting was discreetly installed to highlight architectural features without drawing attention to the modern technology. For outlets and switches, heritage-style plates ensured the new installations blended seamlessly with the home’s vintage feel.
Load Management: The inclusion of a three-phase main switchboard and auto transfer switch ensured the electrical system could handle the diverse range of loads without compromising performance.
Future-Proofing: Driveway conduit provisions and a three-phase upgrade option with a galvanised pole ensured the home remains adaptable to emerging technologies.

The result is a stunningly modernised character home that retains its heritage appeal while supporting a contemporary lifestyle. Voltora’s thoughtful planning and execution delivered a perfect balance between old-world charm and modern sophistication.

This Ascot home now stands as a testament to how heritage properties can be thoughtfully updated to meet the demands of today without losing their essence.
